WHAT to DO.

ENJOY the venue.

We fell in love with the relaxing English countryside charm of Babington House, and hope you will too. Soak in a true getaway with the venue’s wonderful amenities, available for use to all wedding guests.

  • Indoor & outdoor pools: Heated all-year round.

  • Cowshed spa: The original Cowshed spa! Email reception here to book a treatment.

  • Tennis: Get competitive on four grass courts and two paddle tennis courts. Reception can help provide balls and rackets.

  • Bikes: Take a spin around the property & surrounding area.

  • Croquet: Ask reception for a set to use on the lawn.

And don’t miss complimentary pastries, available in the Main House on Wednesday afternoon from 3-5pm.

TAKE a hike.

Staying at the Talbot or Babington? Both receptions can provide you with instructions and maps for walking trails (the word ‘trail’ used loosely). There’s even one that connects the two hotels.

(Tip: Make sure you wear wellies and be prepared to take a few wrong turns— we speak from experience. It’s part of the adventure!)

HIT the pub.

Established in 1480, The Talbot Inn is a traditional inn, pub, restaurant, and grill room located in the historic village of Mells. The pub has a cosy main bar stocked with local ales and a sun-filled cobbled courtyard perfect for the warmer months.

EXPLORE frome.

Named the UK’s most stylish town, Frome is a charming area filled with independent shops, markets, and restaurants. The main shopping street, Catherine Hill, is a 15-minute drive from the venue.

If you’re staying in the area through the weekend, note that the Frome Independent Market is open from 10am-3pm on the first Sunday of every month—perfect timing for Sunday, June 2nd.

A couple handy guides:

SEE history.

Venture a bit further afield (~45-minute drive from Babington House) to see Stonehenge, or if you’re driving in from London, catch it en route.

CHECK OUT some art.

Leading international modern & contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth (founded in 1992 in Zurich) opened an outpost in Somerset in 2014 and has since welcomed over 1 million visitors and hosted critically acclaimed exhibitions, including Phyllida Barlow CBE RA, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Eduardo Chillida, Jenny Holzer, and Henry Moore.

Occupying a former farmstead in Bruton, Hauser & Wirth is a 30-minute drive from Babington House. See what’s on now in the galleries here.
